Alan Leo Lorentzen

Alan Leo Lorentzen, 85, passed away on Thursday, February 8th, 2024, at Trail Creek Place.

 

Alan was born on July 18th, 1938, in Cozad, NE to Harry and Almine "Minnie" (Jensen) Lorentzen.

 

On June 29th, 1994, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, he married Clara Silfa who survives. Also surviving are his 2 daughters, Janelle (Jeff) Robinson and Julie Ross, all of La Porte; 4 grandchildren, Kaylin (Kevin) Isaac of Dyer, Jared Ross of Warsaw, Joseph (Emma) Ross of Indianapolis, and Jillian Ross of West Lafayette; great-granddaughter, Harper Isaac; 3 sisters, Lanna Mitchell, Linda (John) Ehrke, and Laura (Vernon) Veal; as well as many nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Almine "Minnie" Lorentzen; brothers, Larry and Eddie Lorentzen; and son-in-law, Joe Ross.

 

Alan was an Ordained Minister in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.  He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, where he led the senior Bible study, visited the hospitalized and elderly shut-ins, as well as covered church services as needed. Alan enjoyed serving the community, traveling, and attending baseball games.  Most importantly, he enjoyed serving and spending time with his family, which included attending all the events for his grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

 

Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte.

 

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 5 p.m. on Friday, February 16th, 2024, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Michigan City with Pastor Mark Reshan officiating.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be directed to St. Paul Lutheran Church,  818 Franklin St., Michigan City, IN 46360.
