Jeanne Christian

Jeanne Christian, 90, of LaPorte, Indiana passed away peacefully at her home with her family who loved her dearly by her side on Friday, February 9th, 2024.

 

She was born on June 17th, 1933, in La Porte to Francis (Kelly) Bell and Victor Bell. She graduated from La Porte High School in 1951 and attended Ball State University and Purdue North Central following her graduation, where she was a member of the Tri Sigma Sorority. She married the love of her life, Gene Christian, on October 3rd, 1953. They lived in La Porte for the rest of their years and were happily married until Gene’s death on December 28th, 2011.

 

She was also preceded in death by her parents and her sister Barbara. She is survived by her brother Richard Bell of LaPorte. Also surviving are daughter Shelley (Tim) Krcilek of Lafayette, son Ronald Christian of Indianapolis and son Robert Christian of LaPorte, and 5 grandchildren, Melanie Krcilek of Denver, Colorado, Sarah Krcilek of Lafayette, Indiana, Ryan Christian of Clearwater, Florida, Megan Singleton of La Porte and Robert Christian of La Porte. Jeanne also had several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

 

Jeanne worked for the La Porte School Corporation for over 25 years before retiring. In her free time, she most loved being with her family. She also enjoyed reading, sunbathing, walking the dunes, and playing cards. She was a member and parishioner of St. Peter’s Catholic Church. She remained active throughout her life and looked forward to her weekly Zumba classes at the crossings, where she inspired many with her dedication, positive attitude, and pep.

 

Jeanne has been cremated and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.

 

Arrangements have been entrusted to Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel in La Porte.
