Magda Christiane Hasse, 97, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Friday, January 26th, 2024 at Settlers Place in La Porte, IN.

 

She was born April 26th, 1926, in Westerland, SYLT, the daughter of Max and Toni (Markussen) Mangelsen.

 

A long-time member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of La Porte, Magda sang soprano in the church choir and volunteered at the church working with Braille.  She was a voracious reader and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and playing cards. Magda enjoyed bowling and was a member of a bowling league for many years. Additionally, she was a member of the German Club of La Porte. But her true passion was her grandchildren and family, whom she adored. 

 

Magda is survived by her daughter, Sigrid Hasse-Arnoult of Rancho Cucamonga, CA; two sons, Erik Hasse, and Robert Hasse; four grandchildren, Marcus, Douglass, Michael, Christopher; four great-grandchildren, Courtney, Carson Felix, and Ina. 

 

Magda was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Guenter Hasse.

 

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN.  Cremation will take place.
