Victoria Lynn Burge

Victoria Lynn Burge, 56, of Hanna, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, January 17th, 2024, at Northwest Health-La Porte, IN.

 

She was born September 8th, 1967, in La Porte, Indiana, the daughter of James Stewart and Kandace (Hoaglund) Stewart-Rice, both of whom preceded her in death.

 

A lifelong resident of La Porte County, Victoria graduated from La Porte High School, where she was in the marching band, and then went on to receive her Bachelor of Arts from Purdue North Central in 1991.  

 

Victoria began her career as a social worker, most recently with The Salvation Army. On September 15th, 1989, in Terre Haute, IN, she married Webster L. Burge. She enjoyed going to plays and concerts with her husband and enjoyed all types of music, especially 80's and 90's. Victoria was an avid crafts enthusiast, sewing and knitting for the family and making jewelry, which she displayed and sold at craft fairs. She was a dog lover who rescued many dogs.  Doc, who recently passed away, was her "baby", and Mojo and Pretty Girl, survive.

 

She is also survived by her husband of 34 years, Webster; son, James Robert Burge of Hanna, IN; two daughters, Amanda Burge of TX, Chelsea Burge-Baker of Carmel, IN; brother, Ryan Stewart of La Porte, IN, and sister, Laura Smith.

 

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN where the family will receive friends on Friday, January 26th, 2024, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, January 27th, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Patton Cemetery, La Porte, IN.
