Delores Marie Brown, 81, of Portage, Indiana, passed away on January 19th, 2024, at Rittenhouse Senior Living of Portage.

 

Delores was born in Washington, DC on December 30th, 1942, to Merrill and Angela (Walzel) Thorne.

 

On February 26th, 1989, in Las Vegas, Nevada, she married David L. Brown who survives.  Also surviving are her daughter, Lori (Dan) Plank of La Porte; 5 grandchildren, Sarah (Ryan) Darrell of Portage, Brian (Jen) Rupp of Goshen, Danielle Plank of Portage, Andrew Plank of Seattle, Washington, and Ethan Plank of La Porte; 4 great-grandchildren, Jackson and Jacob Darrell of Portage, Madison and Logan Rupp of Goshen; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, James Thorne and Vivian Mellott.

 

Delores worked as a communications technician for GTE telephone company.  She enjoyed cooking, and traveling, but more than anything she loved her grandchildren!

 

Public visitation will be held from 4 - 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 1st, 2024, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 2900 Monroe St., La Porte.

 

Cremation will take place following the family's private service.
