David Baughman

David Baughman, 73, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Sunday, January 14th, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his family.

He was born May 16th, 1950, in La Porte, Indiana, the son of David Baughman and Edna (Boyer) Baughman.

A lifelong resident of the area, David grew up on a farm and loved working in the fields and riding on tractors. He graduated from New Prairie High School, class of 1970, and was drafted into the United States Army, serving in Germany. He delivered the big orange (his favorite color) tractors for Allis-Chalmers and RV's for Coachman before switching to the "Big Rigs" and working for Bendix, CCX, Preston and finally, Forward Air Freight, retiring in 2015. His CB handle was Orange Rabbit.  David enjoyed riding motorcycles and was a car guy, going to car shows and chasing the MOPAR classics. He had quite a collection of diecast cars, trucks, and farm equipment, which he happily shared with his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In June of 1988, in New Carlisle, IN under an apple tree, David married his sweetheart, Dolly Mae Green. After his retirement, he and Dolly took a 5-week car trip to California, visiting family and seeing Mt Rushmore, Grand Canyon, the Corvette Museum, and Las Vegas. His family was precious to him and he will be greatly missed by them all.
