Alvin A. Volk, 79 Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, January 2nd, 2024, at Aperion Care Arbors Nursing Home, Michigan City, Indiana, surrounded by family.

 

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm Tuesday, January 16th, 2024, at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN with Rev. David Kime officiating. Private burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery at a later date.  Visitation will be from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm Tuesday at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel.    

 

Alvin was born July 21st, 1944, in Michigan City, Indiana to the late John and Gertrude (Sobieski) Volk. Surviving is a sister, Genevieve Allen, Florida; and several cousins

.

Alvin was also preceded in death by brothers Daniel, James, and Thomas Volk; and sister, Victoria Ann. 

 

He lived in Michigan City all his life. Alvin was employed at Majots Feed and Seed and he enjoyed doing yard work and watching westerns and Judge Judy.

 

Arbors had been his home for several years, while there the staff and residents fondly called him “Candy Man”. He could always be found with a chocolate bar and or an A&W Root Beer in hand, which he would share with others. Alvin was known for his quick wit and his quick comebacks. He always had a kind word for others and was considerate of their feelings.
