Harold A. Miller, 88, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Thursday, December 28th, 2023, at Community Hospital in Munster, IN.

 

He was born January 12th, 1935, in La Porte, Indiana, the son of Walter Miller and Madeline (Wilt) Miller.

 

Harold was a lifelong resident of the La Porte area graduating from La Porte High School in 1953. He went to work for GTE right out of high school and worked for them for 40 and a half years before retiring in 1993. He was a hard-working person his entire life and truly enjoyed working. He was a member of the CWA Union. He enjoyed being in the outdoors and loved to take long walks through the La Porte Parks. He also was an avid reader. After retirement, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and never missed a game or spelling bee. 
 
He is survived by his daughter, Tracy Buchanan of La Porte, IN; son, Steven Miller of La Porte, IN; Brother, Thomas Miller of La Porte, IN; Former Spouse, Gayle Miller; three grandchildren, Zac, Kiana, and Mariah Buchanan. 

 

Harold was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Doris Mills, and a sister, Barbara Snow.

 

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN. The family has chosen cremation with a memorial service at a later date.
