Riki Dee Starnes, 66, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Sunday, December 24th, 2023, at Northwest Health-La Porte.

 

She was born October 20th, 1957, in La Porte, Indiana, the daughter of Don A. Starnes and Shirley (Shelton) Starnes., both whom preceded her in death.

 

Riki graduated from La Porte High School in 1976 and went on to attend Michigan City Beauty College and Commonwealth Business College. She worked at K-mart in Michigan City for many years, but retired from Walmart in La Porte.  Riki was a 10-year 4-H member and a talented watercolor artist.  She loved doing cross stitch and Suduko and was a huge horror movie fan. Riki was a collector of all things, including numerous friends, a houseful of plants, and artificial fingernails.  She would take in any stray, whether 2-legged or 4-legged, and her favorite dog was Deli.  Riki was a fun-loving, generous person who loved game night with her family and was super proud of her children. She will be missed by them all. 

 

She is survived by her son, Ky (Kyla) Starnes of Portage, IN; sister, Kelley Pina of La Porte, IN; special family friends, Chris Ault and his children and most importantly, her "Little Sunshine", her grandchild, Kayden.

 

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends on December 30 from 2:00-4:00 p.m.  Cremation will take place.
