Louanna June Gourley, 95, of La Porte, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, December 14th, 2023.

 

Louanna was born on May 29th, 1928, in La Porte, Indiana to John E. and Edna A. (Tarnow) Sampson.

 

On November 29th, 1947, in La Porte, she married Kenneth F. Gourley who preceded her in death.  Surviving are her 2 daughters, Trina (Danny) Evans of La Porte and Christine (William) Adams of La Porte; 4 grandchildren, Matthew (Erin) Evans of Valparaiso, Kylene (Brian) Slone of La Porte, Erik (Kendrick) Adams of Mathison, MS, and Brent (Amy) Adams of Arlington Heights, IL; 12 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Louanna was preceded by her parents; husband; brother, Ernie Sampson, and nephew, Wayne Sampson.

 

Louanna worked as a secretary for 40 years at Angelo Bernacchi Greenhouse and Fox Woolen Mill.  She enjoyed playing bingo, bowling with the Top Spot Scratch League and Sextet Plus Two League, and going to Las Vegas with her brother and his family.  Family was the most important thing to her.  She especially loved watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports.  

 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 20nd, 2023, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Pastor Kendall Schaeffer officiating.  Burial will follow at Pine Lake Cemetery.

 

A time of visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
