 Rev. Freeman A. Schrock

Beloved minister of LaPorte New Church from 2004-2012, Freeman Schrock, 82, entered into heavenly eternal life on October 19th, 2023, after an earthly life of serving others, helping make their lives happier and healthier.

Freeman will be fondly remembered and celebrated at a memorial service at LaPorte New Church, 812 Indiana Avenue, on Saturday, November 18th at 11:00 a.m. Friends and family are invited to attend and share their memories. Refreshments will follow.

Freeman A. Schrock was born August 3rd, 1941, in Noble County, Indiana to Amos and Elizabeth (Miller) Schrock. He had a BA and Masters in Clinical Social Work and a BA and Masters in Theology. He was employed as a Social Worker in Elkhart County, Indiana for many years.

After retirement, Freeman was inducted into the Christian ministry of the Swedenborgian Church of North America (The New Church), being asked by the congregation to serve as minister of LaPorte New Church. He served for eight years with devotion and shared with his church family his joy, humility, wisdom, warmth, laughter, and deep love for and faith in our Lord God Jesus Christ.

He is survived by his daughter, Heather Baraka of Kona, Hawaii; his son, Jeffrey Schrock of South Bend, Indiana; and one granddaughter, Nyah Baraka of Phoenix, Arizona. He highly valued education, and his wish was that any memorial gifts be directed to his only granddaughter, Nyah, for her university medical education in Arizona. These gifts may be made to LaPorte New Church and will be forwarded to her. God’s blessings on our good and faithful servant.
