Mary E. Bowmar

Mary E. Bowmar, 88, Michigan City, IN, passed away Wednesday, November 1st, 2023, at 3:45 p.m. in Life Care Center of Michigan City, Michigan City, IN.

 

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 7th, 2023 at Queen of All Saints Catholic Church, 606 S. Woodland Avenue, Michigan City, IN with  Rev. Jordan Fetcko officiating. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 9:30 am - 11:00 am, Tuesday at the Queen of All Saints Legacy Center. The Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Michigan City, IN is handling arrangements. 

  

She was born October 17th, 1935, in Michigan City, IN to the late Emanuel and Mary (Jankowski) Timm. On June 27th, 1959, in Michigan City, IN she married Daniel Bowmar who her preceded on November 22nd, 2018.

 

Surviving are three daughters, Elizabeth (Randy) Durham of Michigan City, IN, Margaret (Paul) Brandt of Bloomington, MN, and Monica (Mark) Carter of Indianapolis, IN; two sons, Charles (Edie) Bowmar of Las Vegas, NV and Edward (Christine) Bowmar of La Porte, Indiana; six grandchildren, Andrew (Beth) Durham, Melissa (Ryan) Harmon, Justin Brandt, Joshua Brandt, Savannah Bowmar and Kaila Carter; seven great-grandchildren, Abigail Durham, Audrey Durham, Amelia Durham, Maisy Harmon, Blakely Harmon, Carmeron Harmon, and Mable Casteel; and her niece, Angela (Wayne) Butler of New Buffalo, MI.

 

She was also preceded in death by her son, Paul Bowmar; and brothers, Emanuel F. Timm, Jr. and Adam Timm.   

 

Mary retired as manager of Elston Jr. High School Cafeteria in 1999 after 17 years and worked at Joy Mfg. Co. from 1954 until 1963.  She was a 1954 graduate of Elston High School and worked on all the reunion committees.  She was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church where she was a eucharistic minister, Michigan City Senior Center, Michigan City Historical Society, and the former Alpha Iola Chapter of P.I.E. Sorority.  Mary also volunteered at Franciscan Health-Michigan City for many years and enjoyed knitting, sewing, and spending time with her family.
