Regina Carol Rice

Regina Carol Rice, a loving and kind woman, passed away peacefully on October 31st, 2023, in La Porte, Indiana. Born on March 24th, 1951, in Gary, Indiana, Regina lived a life full of love, dedication, and service to others. 

 

Regina was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She is survived by her husband, Keith Smith, whom she married on January 24th, 2016. Regina was a proud mother to her daughters, Ginger (Richard) Potter of Porter, Indiana, Stephanie (Chris) Stalbaum of Ft. Myers, Florida, and Katherine (Nate) Clark of Osceola, Indiana. She was a doting grandmother to Timothy Rice, Andrew Clark, and Chase Clark. Regina is also survived by her sister, Martha (Jack) Young of Pennsylvania. She was preceded in death by her son, Joseph Rice, and her brother, Jack Katona. 

 

Regina had a fulfilling career as a Medical Assistant, working in various hospitals. She was known for her dedication and compassion towards her patients. Later in her career, Regina served as a Guard at the Westville Correctional Center, where she was respected for her professionalism and integrity. She also worked as a Security Guard at the Blue Chip Casino, where she was appreciated for her vigilance and commitment to safety. 

 

Regina had a deep love for her cats, which brought her immense joy and companionship. She also had a green thumb and enjoyed spending time in her garden, nurturing plants with the same care and attention she gave to her loved ones. Her garden was a testament to her patience, dedication, and love for nature. 

 

Regina’s passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched. Her legacy of love, kindness, and service will continue to inspire and guide those who were fortunate enough to know her. 

 

Regina Carol Rice’s life was a beautiful journey filled with love, kindness, and dedication. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to live on through the lives of those she touched. May her soul rest in peace. 

 

Private family services will take place. Arrangements by, Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel in La Porte, Indiana.
