Paul Allen Konieczny

On Wednesday August 2nd, his 66th birthday, Paul Allen Konieczny suddenly and unexpectedly passed away.

Born to Stephen and Mary in La Porte, Paul attended Sacred Heart School prior to entering the public school system and graduating from LPHS in 1976.

Out of a deep admiration for his uncle Joe Vargyas, Paul followed Joe’s lead and proudly served in the Marines upon graduating high school.

After his service, Paul worked many years traveling the country as an independent contractor for Ceiling and Floor Restoration. This suited him well as he loved making new acquaintances, finding beauty and kinship in even the most unlikely of places.

Of course, it never took long before those around him knew he was a true Green Bay Packers fan. As an avid golfer, he always had his clubs at the ready to shoot a round wherever he happened to be.

Paul was preceded in death by his father and mother, brother Mark, and nephew Kristopher, all of La Porte. He is survived by his son Jason; stepdaughters, Amanda and Andrea; partner Dawn Nelson; sisters Barbra (Robin), Sally and Ann; as well as brother John (Ali); niece, Katelyn; nephews Brian and Stephen; great nieces, Raegan and Nova; and 10 grandchildren.

The family asks friends to join them in celebrating Paul’s life at the Knights of Columbus in La Porte on November 11th from 2 to 5 PM.

Paul loved all animals large and small, helping critters in need however he could. As such, the family asks for donations to be made in his name to the Independent Cat Society of Westville or the La Porte County Animal Shelter.

“Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference in the world. But the Marines don’t have that problem.” – Ronald Reagan.
