Richard Albert Clark, Sr.

Richard Albert Clark, Sr., 83, of Hamlet, IN, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family, on October 20th, 2023.

Richard was born on March 28th, 1940, in La Porte, IN to Bud E. and Ellen Lydia (Clark) Clark.

On December 16th, 1960, in Hamlet, IN, he married Nancy Yoquelet who survives. Also surviving are his 2 children, Michelle (Gregory) Arndt of La Porte and Richard A. Clark, Jr. of La Porte; 3 grandchildren, Matthew D. (Alexandra) Arndt, Collin R. (Kate) Arndt, and Morgan R. S. (Madeleine) Arndt; 4 great-grandchildren, Grayson J., Rowan G., Cora L. and Brooks R. Arndt; siblings, Michael R. Clark, Jess Clark, and Jo Estelle (Clark) Ohime; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, James Kenneth Clark; and brother, Bill Jones.

Richard was known by many names during his lifetime and wore many hats: husband, father, poppa, mechanic, and farmer. He was the hardest working man anyone knew; working his whole life on a farm and employed full time outside the farm until he turned 83, just six months ago.  Early in his working career, he was employed at Allis Chalmer in the experimental department where he traveled the United States with farm equipment.  He later was employed by NIPSCO for 32 years. Lastly, he worked at Penske for 19 years. Although he held various jobs, he was happiest when on his farm raising Hereford cattle, hogs, dogs, and cats.

Richard will be fondly remembered by his children and grandchildren for the strong work ethic he exemplified and instilled in them. His legacy will continue within his family.

Known by many as "Red", he was always the first to offer his help to others when they had car troubles, a tree needing cut down, or any other need.  First and foremost, Richard was a servant to his family; helping to meet the needs they had.

A Graveside Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 27th, 2023, at Tracy Cemetery, Hamlet, IN, with Pastor David Albertin officiating.

A time of visitation will be held from 2 - 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 26th, 2023, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center.

Memorial donations may be made to the family c/o Nancy Clark, 2900 Monroe Street, La Porte, IN 46350, or to the donor's choice.
