Debra Kay Kuta

Debra Kay Kuta, 71, passed away on Tuesday, October 17th, 2023 at her home, with family by her side.

 

Debra was born on April 19th, 1952, in La Porte, IN to Gene and Rosemary (Slack) Miller.

 

On June 22nd, 2001, in Las Vegas, NV, she married Craig Kuta who survives.  Also surviving are her 2 daughters, Kayla (Jason) Praschak of Valparaiso and Krista (Fouad) Saleet of Ithaca, NY;  3 grandchildren, Aiden Praschak, Madeleine Saleet, and Oliver Saleet; 5 stepchildren, William Kuta of La Porte and David (Haydeé Macías) Kuta of Chicago, IL, April (Ed) Beamon, Brian Beron, and Todd Beron; siblings and cousin, Terry (Linda) Miller, Sue (Darrell) Kaiser, Karen Rigler, Sharon (Mike) Mullen, and Peggy (Bill) Marquardt all of La Porte; as well as many nieces and nephews.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents.

 

Debra was a nurse at La Porte Hospital for many years.  She was also a member of Door Village United Methodist Church and a previous member of Salem Chapel.  Debra also enjoyed participating in local bowling leagues.

 

Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte.

 

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 4th, 2023, at Door Village United Methodist Church with Pastor Sam Polito officiating.  

 

Visitation with the family will be from 10 – 11 a.m. preceding the service.  A Nursing Honor Guard presentation will be held at the start of the service to celebrate and honor the physical, emotional, and spiritual care Debra provided to those she was blessed to serve during her medical career. 

 

Out of her love for animals, the family kindly requests that any memorial contributions be directed to the Jane Bernard Animal Adoption Center, 2855 West State Road 2, La Porte, IN 46350.
