Wilhelm Kreuzer

Wilhelm Kreuzer, 94, Duneland Beach, Indiana, passed away Thursday, October 5th, 2023 surrounded by family.

Mass will be held at 11 a.m., October 24th, 2023 at Notre Dame Catholic Church, 1010 Moore Road, Long Beach, Indiana.  We will have a gathering in the vestibule after mass of Willie’s favorite daily ritual of Kaffée and Kucken to celebrate our Papa.  Arrangements are being handled by the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana.

Willie (Dad, Papa, Opa) was born on June 8th, 1929 in Elsenfeld, Germany to the late Otto and Anna Kreuzer (Bergmann).  His late siblings were little Toni, Toni, Adam, and Maria.  On September 5th, 1970 in Jacksonville, Illinois, Willie married Katherina Thurn (Kreuzer) who passed in May 2010.  Willie & Katherina moved their family to Duneland Beach, Indiana in early 1975.  Surviving, his two daughters, Helen (Michael) Cameron of Chicago, IL, and Anna-Maria Kreuzer of Duneland Beach, IN; son, Wilhelm (Nicole) Kreuzer of Naperville, IL; and 3 grandchildren, Cole, Chloe, and Keegan Kreuzer and his best friend Frank Winter (Onkel Frank), Prospect Heights, IL

Willie immigrated from Elsenfeld, Germany to Dayton, OH in October 1957, to live with his Onkel Nikolous and Tante Genevieve Bergmann.  Willie was a member of Notre Dame Catholic Church and worked in the fashion industry as a bespoke clothing designer and tailor for J. Capps & Sons, Oxxford Clothing, Brooks Brothers, Hartmarx, and Jaymar-Ruby.  While he was a German at heart, Willie was thrilled to become a US Citizen on June 6, 2014. He loved spending time with his family, traveling, telling stories, working on projects around his house and for his children, chopping wood, firing up his wood stove, afternoon cake, and coffee, classical German music, watching soccer, and going to the beach at Stop 33.  He was a proud, humble, independent, and resourceful man who would tell anyone who would listen his age and was often heard bragging about his children and grandchildren. Willie was a very vibrant, fit, active, young-at-heart man until his passing.

He will forever live on in our hearts and we miss him greatly.  We know he is at peace and enjoying spending time with his wife, parents, siblings, and other friends and relatives who predeceased him.

In lieu of flowers or a donation, the Kreuzer-Cameron family is asking for all friends and family to do a kind deed in honor of Willie.
