Thomas R. Giesler, 73, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Thursday, October 12th, 2023 at Northwest Health La Porte, IN.

 

He was born October 16th, 1949 in La Porte, Indiana, the son of Richard F. Giesler and Ethel M. (Kreuger) Giesler.

 

A lifelong resident of the area, Thomas graduated from La Porte High School and went to work as a millwright for Bethlehem Steel, retiring in 2012 after 43 years. He was a true outdoorsman and a member and supporter of the National Rifle Association.  He enjoyed hunting most of all and hunted big game in Wyoming, Montana, and Canada. He also liked fishing and shooting.  

 

Thomas is survived by his son, Scott Giesler of Michigan City, IN; sister, Jeanine Lucas of La Porte, IN; grandson, Tyi Giesler of Michigan City, IN.

 

Thomas was preceded in death by his son, Glenn Giesler, and his parents.

 

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Avenue, LaPorte, IN where the family will receive friends on Thursday, October 19th from 5-7 PM at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home Friday, October 20th with visitation from 10 until service time at 12 Noon with Pastor Ron Brauer, officiating. Interment will follow at the Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana.
