Pearlie Sue Howard

Pearlie Sue Howard, 81, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away on October 16th, 2023, at Northwest Health-La Porte.

 

Pearlie was born on April 23rd, 1942, in Jackson, KY to Arnie and Edna (White) Banks.

 

On December 19th, 1963, in Jackson, KY, she married George Howard who preceded her in death on March 27, 1972.  Surviving Pearlie are her daughters, Rebecca Howard of New Carlisle and Lisa (Ernie) Melton of La Porte; stepchildren, James (Vicki) Howard of La Porte, Junior (Carol) Howard of La Porte, and Herman (Joann) Howard of New Carlisle; grandchildren, Rhonda (Tim) McQueen of London, KY, Erica (Seth) White of La Porte,  P.J. Qualls of New Carlisle, Megan (Keith) Ponder of Michigan City, Renae (Eric) Baugh of TX, and William Goley of Pikeville, KY; stepgrandchildren, Sue VanDusen of La Porte, Betty Miller of La Porte, Raymond Spencer of La Porte, Lori Howard of La Porte, Joe Howard of Knox, Nikki Millard of La Porte, Larry Howard of La Porte, John Howard of La Porte, and Mandy VanBruaene of Indianapolis; as well as numerous great-grandchildren, great, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, A.C. Banks and Wendell Carpenter; daughters, Kimberly Howard and Carolyn Gail Goley; and stepchildren, Lucy Howard, Lauraette Spencer, Bobbi Clemons, and G.T. Howard.

 

Pearlie was a Christ-follower, who faithfully read her Bible.  She was a prayer warrior that others could count on to lift their requests to the Lord.  In 1986, Pearlie became a member of Meer Road United Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Fred Miller.  Later, she attended South Center United Baptist Church, where she was ministered to by her son-in-law, Pastor Ernie Melton.

 

She worked many years at Keystone Service.  In her spare time, Pearlie enjoyed quilting and gardening.

 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 18th, 2023, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Pastors Fred Miller and Mike Noble officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.

 

A time of visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
