Donna McCleery, 75, of La Porte, passed away peacefully at 1:05 a.m., Saturday, October 7th, 2023 at her home.

 

She was born in La Porte, on July 6th, 1948, to Donald and Doreen (Edwards) Keenan.

 

On February 2nd, 1986, in Houston, Texas, Donna married the love of her life, Ted McCleery, who survives.

 

Donna was a softball player whose pitch had a high arch that made it quite difficult to get a hit, however, she wasn’t much of a runner. She was also quite the pool shark. Donna was also an amazing cook and baker. She was known by her grandchildren as their “Cookin grandma”. Nobody left her table hungry. Donna was a lifelong member of the VFW Post 1130 and the Ladies Auxillary. She will be greatly missed.

 

Also surviving five children, Shelly (Tom) Sunderland, Brad Cummings, Jamie (Beth) Cummings, Chad (The Late Sandra) McCleery and Jason McCleery, all of La Porte; one brother, Jim (Mary) Keenan; three sisters, Patricia Keenan, Jane (Ken) Foster and Maureen (The Late Dave) Garrison; grandchildren, Matt McCleery of Rolling Prairie, Sierra McCleery of La Porte, Cassie Ingram of Huntsville, Alabama, Laney Cummings of Livingston, Tennessee, Heather Browder, Kamry Salrin, Macy Salrin and Avery Salrin; several nieces and nephews; special lifelong friends, Alice Hall, Linda Smith, Chris Shelton, Chris Stiller and Marcela O’Shaughnessy; she also leaves behind her special group “The Bitches and she was the Queen Bitch”. When she became an empty nester, she became a nanny and leaves behind very special children, Saxon Stiller, Connor, Isabel, Amalia, and Emmet O’Shaughnessy.

 

Donna was preceded in death by her parents.

 

Cremation will take place. A celebration of life will be held Sunday, October 22nd, 2023 at PNA, 306 Park Street La Porte, from 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Please come as you are and come hungry.
