Willie D. Campbell, 86, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Sunday, October 1st, 2023 at Northwest Health-La Porte, with the love of God and family surrounding him

.

He was born October 20th, 1936 in Starkville, Mississippi, the son of Forrest Campbell and Elona (Turner) Campbell.

 

On June 2nd, 1956, in Starkville, MS, Willie married Margie L. Bell, who survives.

 

He is also survived by his daughter, Rochelle Campbell; brother, Forrest (Bettye) Campbell, Jr. of La Porte, Indiana; grandson, Christopher Davis; great-granddaughter, Dakota Davis; and a host of nieces and nephews.

 

Willie was preceded in death by his daughter, Sandra Davis; brothers, Sammie (Rosie) Campbell, Morris (Juline) Campbell and Elmo (Cora) Campbell; sisters, Ruby (George) Sharp and Ann (Howard) Roberts.

 

Willie and Margie moved to this area in 1969 from Alton, Illinois. He worked as an independent truck driver and was a member and assistant minister of the Greater Harvest Full Gospel Church in La Porte, Indiana. Willie enjoyed attending events and festivities of the church. He liked to fish and watch news programs regarding politics. He and Margie loved to travel on vacations and visit family. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

 

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Avenue, LaPorte, IN where the family will receive friends on Saturday, October 14th, 2023 from 11:00 - 12:00 noon central, followed by a service at noon.  The Reverend Edward Brown, Greater Harvest Full Gospel Church will officiate. Cremation has taken place.
