Ava Kay Schergen, 2, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, October 3rd, 2023 at her home. 

 

She was born September 1st, 2021 in La Porte, Indiana, the daughter of Daniel T. Schergen and Megan J. Hicks Schergen.

 

Ava Kay was a happy and beautiful 2-year-old who loved Sesame Street and all her "monsters", especially Elmo. She was so smart, knowing all her numbers and colors. Ava Kay loved to play outside, swinging and sliding down the slide.  Daddy was her best friend, along with her two dogs, Rizzo and Wrigley. Ava Kay gave the best kisses and was always saying, " Can I hold you, Mom?". Everyone who knew her loved her, and she will be hugely missed by all. She was the happiest girl with the best smile and pig tales. Ava Kay completed the Schergen family.

 

Ava Kay is survived by her loving parents, Dan and Megan Schergen; maternal grandparents, Andrea (Don) Poort of Union Mills, IN, and Don (Deanna) Hicks of Union Mills, IN; paternal grandparents, Marc (Barb) Schergen of Valparaiso, IN; bonus grandmother, Cheryl Highsmith of La Porte, IN; great-grandparents, Matt & Joan Schergen of Alsip, IL; great-grandpa, Robert Hickman of Kingsbury, IN; great-grandpa, Ronald Hicks of Union Mills, IN. She will be dearly missed by her brothers Elliot Schergen & Carter Schergen and sisters Callie Schergen & Tahiry Schergen. She will be missed greatly by her many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

 

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN, where the family will receive friends for a visitation on Saturday, October 7th, 2023 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., with a funeral service to follow at 5:00. Cremation will take place.
