Joe W. Almaraz

Joe W. Almaraz, 78, of La Porte, Indiana passed away October 7th, 2023. He was born in Hebbronville, Texas to Janie Swisher and Guadalupe Almaraz. 

 

He married Julia D. Cabrera on March 13th, 1965, who preceded him in death on June 16th, 2018.

 

Joe was a member of St. Joseph Parish in La Porte. He was a member of the Steelworkers Union and was employed with Inland Steel for 37 years.

 

Joe is survived by his children; daughters, Alice (Bruce) Holmquest of La Porte, Patsy (Dan) Jones of Chesterton, Josette (Bill) Lott of La Porte, Denise (Adrian) Shultz of Union Mills; grandchildren, Raeanne, and Jeromey Holmquest, Daniel, and Jasmine Nona, Olivia, and Will Lott, Alex, and Jake Shultz; great-grandchildren; Claire, Henry, Hazel, Charlie Mae, Amelia Anne, and Delilah Jo; and brothers, Oscar Almaraz, Lupe Almaraz, and Louie Almaraz. He was preceded in death by brothers, Rudy and Noe Almaraz. 

 

Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, October 12th, 2023, at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, 1117 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana, where a Parish Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. 

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, October 13th, 2023, at Holy Family Parish, St. Joseph Church, 109 C. Street, La Porte, Indiana. Family and friends may gather at 10 a.m. Friday in the funeral home.
