Robert “Bob” L. Kooyenga, 81, of La Porte, Indiana passed away Monday, September 25th, 2023.

 

Bob was born May 2nd, 1942, in Blue Island, Illinois to the late Richard and Anne (Tamminga) Kooyenga. He retired after 34 years as an accountant with Ingersoll Rand in Chicago and then 10 years with HRR Enterprises in La Porte. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of La Porte and served his country in the U.S. Army. 

 

On November 8th, 1997, Bob married Sharen Eazsol who survives. Also surviving are his daughters, Alona (Steve) Frieling of Crown Point, Indiana, Wendy Fedor of Columbus, Indiana, Kami (Alan) Geleske of La Porte, Amy (Bruce) Moe of La Porte; grandchildren, Kelli (Jon Martin) Frieling, Rachel (David) Keric, Jessica Fedor, Kyle (Alyssa Miiller) Kooyenga, Dylan (Samantha) Kooyenga, Ben Moe, and Sam Moe; great grandchildren, Maddie, Cameron, Alison, Ryker, and Vanessa; and a sister, Linda (Curt) Ettema. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Anita Kooyenga. 

 

Visitation will be from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Sunday, October 1st, 2023 at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, 1117 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana. 

 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 2nd, 2023 at the First United Methodist Church in La Porte, where family and friends may visit from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. prior to the service in the church. Burial will be at Pine Lake Cemetery. 

 

Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 1225 Michigan Avenue, La Porte, Indiana 46350.
