Christine Lee Wilkins, a beloved family woman and respected member of the LaPorte community, passed away peacefully on September 20th, 2023. Born on August 2th, 1961, in LaPorte, Indiana, Christine remained a loyal resident of her birthplace throughout her life.

 

Christine was the daughter of the late Patricia and Gene Hasselfeldt. She was the loving sister to Vickie Gushrowski, Pamela Bergren, and Michael Hasselfeldt. Christine married Patrick Wilkins, and together had a daughter, Meghan Johnson. Christine also embraced Jennifer Courtright and Kelli Wilkins as her step-daughters. The joy of her life were her grandchildren, Emma and Melanie Johnson, William and Abigail Courtright, and Chase Truitt.

 

A proud graduate of LaPorte High School in 1979, Christine was a dedicated and diligent worker. She was a valued employee at Sullair and The Herald Argus, but above all she was a loving wife, mother, and Meme.

 

Christine’s family was always at the heart of everything she did. She loved being surrounded by her loved ones, especially her grandchildren, who brought great joy and happiness to her life. She was bright, fun-loving, and deeply caring.

 

Christine’s mother and mother-in-law both had breast cancer and required mastectomies. As a result, Christine has been very actively dedicated to breast cancer awareness. In lieu of flowers, she would be honored if you were to make a donation in her name to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. In addition, pink was her favorite color and something she surrounded herself with. If you would like to wear pink instead of black to her celebration of life, we know it is something she would love.

 

A celebration of life will be held from 4-7pm Wednesday, September 27th, 2023, at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, 1117 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana.
