Karen Sue Meyers

Karen Sue Meyers, 72, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Sunday August 27th, 2023 at Northwest Health-La Porte.

She was born September 6th, 1950 in Lebanon, Missouri, the daughter of Rollin Blackburn and Virginia (Wrinkle) Blackburn.

A graduate of Richland High School in Missouri, Karen moved to this area in 1969. In that same year, in April, she married her husband Daniel E. Myers, who survives.  Karen attended Faith Baptist in La Porte. She worked at Howmet for 12 years and was a clerk at the La Porte Public Library for 12 years.  She also helped Daniel at the family business. Because of her husband's interest in riding the Jeep Trails, she traveled with him across the United States in their motor home. In 1978 they took a trip to Vail, Colorado, which was the last time she rode the trails. She still loved driving her Jeep Liberty around town, though. Karen enjoyed crafting and antiquing, going to shows and setting up a booth, then shopping for more stuff.  She will be missed by many.

Along with her husband, Karen is also survived by her sister, Peggy (Kenny) Porterfield of San Antonio, FL; two nieces, Brenda Vaughn of San Antonio, FL and Sandi Hall of Independence, MO and many other nieces and nephews.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Carl Blackburn and sisters, Georgia Mae Martin and Marian Head.

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Avenue, LaPorte, IN. Cremation will take place. A Celebration of Life Service will be held for Karen on Saturday, September 2nd, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church, 933 South Nursery Road, La Porte, with Pastor Eddie Heavener, officiating.
