Sharon Louise Fain

Sharon Louise Fain, a loving and selfless woman, passed away peacefully at the age of 79, on August 30th, 2023. Born on December 26th, 1943, in Plymouth, Indiana, she was the cherished daughter of Carl and Norma (Petcher) Welch.

 

In her formative years, Sharon found her faith, accepting Christ as her Lord and Savior. She was baptized and joined the LaPaz Union Church, where her spiritual journey began. Her faith was a beacon in her life, guiding her through every decision she made.

 

On October 27th, 1962, in LaPaz, Indiana, Sharon married Joe Fain, her loving and devoted husband. Together, they raised two sons, Daniel (Wendy) R. Fain of Ada, Michigan, and Mark (Laurie) C. Fain of Palmyra, Michigan. Their family grew to include six grandchildren, Naomi Fain, Kaitlin (Jacob) Flannery, Joel Fain, John Fain, Seth (Anne) Fain, and Izayah Fain, and three great-grandchildren, Aliza, Rory, and Mack. Sharon also leaves behind her brothers, Roger Welch of Nappanee and Charlie (Cathy) Welch of LaPaz, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Sharon dedicated many years of her life serving as a postal clerk at the Rolling Prairie Post Office, where she made lifelong friendships with coworkers and customers. She also found joy in teaching Sunday School at the First Baptist Church, North Liberty, where she was a respected and beloved member. A woman of many passions, Sharon was particularly fond of animals. She not only kept several pets, including cats, dogs, and cows, but also rescued those in need, demonstrating her gentle and compassionate nature.

 

Sharon never missed the annual LaPaz Alumni Banquet, always looking forward to catching up with old friends and classmates. This simple tradition was a testament to her loyalty and the value she placed on maintaining relationships.

 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 05th, 2023, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, with Pastor Wayne Joyner officiating. Following the service, Sharon will be laid to rest at Oak Grove Cemetery in Mill Creek.

 

There will also be a time of visitation from 9:30 AM until the time of the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. This will be a time for friends and family to gather, remember Sharon, and celebrate the significant impact she had on their lives.

Sharon was a woman of strong faith, kindness, and immense love for her family. Her selfless nature and gentle spirit will be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be greatly missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of her loved ones.
