Walter "Butch" Allen Singleton Sr.

Walter "Butch" Allen Singleton Sr., 78, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away on August 30th, 2023 at Northwest Health-La Porte.

 

Walter was born on April 16th, 1945 in La Porte county, IN to Perry and Margaret "Peg"(Worthington) Singleton.

 

On February 8th, 1964 in Mill Creek, IN, he married Betsy Norris Singleton who survives. Also surviving are his children, Walter "Butchie" (Cynthia) A. Singleton, Jr. of Cedar Lake, IN and Jeana (John) M. Mangold of La Porte; 6 grandchildren, Brittney Mangold of Michigan City, Tyler Singleton of Valparaiso, Rylie Singleton of Paradise Valley, AZ, Mercedes Singleton of Bloomington, IN, Camryn Watt of Flagstaff, AZ, and Jaden Mangold of La Porte; 2 great-grandchildren, Riley and Chase; sister, Penny Nowatzke of Michigan City; as well as numerous loving nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret and Perry Singleton, and 2 brothers, Gary and Jay Singleton.

 

For over 45 years, Walter was a frame maker at Thandhart & Burger, contributing to framing art in the Oval Office and the Ford Museum, Grand Rapids, MI. He was a member of the early morning breakfast club at McDonalds. Walter enjoyed mowing the grass, hunting, and fishing. Most importantly, Walter enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.

 

Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center.

 

A Graveside Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 7th, 2023 at Oak Grove Cemetery, Mill Creek, with Pastor Edward Byrnes officiating.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the NewDay Foundation of La Porte, P.O. Box 13, La Porte, IN 46352-0013.
