Zane Kevin Elkins, 68, of Kingsbury, Indiana passed away Saturday, August 26th, 2023, after a battle with cancer. He was born on December 31st, 1954, in La Porte to Freddie and Marilyn (Yaden) Elkins.
Zane was a retired truck driver with Airgas and trained other drivers as well as delivered. He served his country in the U.S. Army as a SFC and was a member of the American Legion Post #434 in Kingsford Heights, Indiana. He loved to fish and hunt, and enjoyed gardening. He loved the Colts and scratch off tickets, and was an amazing cook. He had many good friends, but was known to his family, as a Family Man!
In April of 1991, Zane married the former Marsha Jordan who survives with their children, Kevin Ludwig of La Porte, Janell (Erik) Bathke of Cheyenne Wyoming, Michael Ludwig of Kingsbury, Brian Herzog of Tacoma, Washington; grandchildren, Kalub Bathke, Tyler Bathke, Zane Ludwig; and a brother, Perry (Sherri) Elkins of Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Linda Wright.
Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, August 30th, 2023, at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, 1117 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 31st, 2023, at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, where family and friends may visit from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Pine Lake Cemetery.
