Rick J. Koblinski, 54, of Rolling Prairie, Indiana, passed away Thursday August 17th, 2023 at home, surrounded by his family.
He was born June 27th, 1969 in Jackson, Michigan, the son of Richard Koblinski and Sheryal (Freeman) Koblinski-Wilcoff.
Rick moved with his family to this area from Jackson as a child, graduating from La Porte High School in 1987. He went on to work for Cleveland Cliffs as a steelworker in the mill, where he was a member of the United Steelworkers Local 9231. On April 28th, 2001, at Barker Mansion in Michigan City, he married Dana M. Spicer, who survives. Rick loved playing golf, especially in fun leagues with his co-workers and he also bowled in leagues at the old Thunderbird Lanes. He enjoyed classic cars and dreamed of owning one. Rick loved all sports and was an avid Michigan Wolverines fan (Go Blue)! He loved reading as well, particularly mysteries by James Patterson. Rick was very sociable with many friends. You could always count on a happy guy with a big smile on his face. He loved his family and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Along with his wife of 21 years, Dana, Rick is also survived by his daughters, Lilee and Lauryn Koblinski of Rolling Prairie, his parents Richard (Rhonda) Koblinski of Valparaiso, IN and Sheryal Wilcoff of Danville, IL; his sisters Leslie (Todd) Reed of Covington, IN and Courtney Koblinski of Michigan City, IN; his nieces and nephews Hartlie Reed, Jameson and Nadialynn Koblinski and Katie and Devin Borcherding.
Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN where the family will receive friends for a visitation from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 21st, 2023. Cremation will take place, after which the cremated remains will be interred at Rolling Prairie Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his honor to the Dunes Hospice, 4711 Evans Avenue, Valparaiso, IN 46383.
