Joan K. (Hubner) Dudeck

Joan K. (Hubner) Dudeck, 87, of New Carlisle, Indiana passed away Saturday, August 19th, 2023, at home. She was born on June 10th, 1936, in La Porte, to Ralph “Snubby” Hubner and Josephine Dobszewicz.

On October 4th, 1958, Joan married Harry L. Dudeck Sr. who preceded her in death on December 24th, 2011.

Joan is survived by her children, Jennifer (Shawn) Estep, Harry L. (Nanette) Dudeck Jr., and, Thomas (Vera) Dudeck; grandchildren, Angela (Mike) Blankenbaker, Stephani (Kristopher) Pullins, Crystal Garriott, and Scott Mackey; great-grandchildren, Bryce Baker, Alexa Baker, Nora Mackey, Parker Pullins, and Baker Pullins; and a brother, William (Ann) Hubner of La Porte. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry, a son, Richard Dudeck on December 16th, 2022, and a brother, Leon Hubner.

Joan was a loving wife and mother, grandma and great-grandma. She was an animal lover that never let a stray go hungry. She especially loved her miniature Yorkie, Peyton.

Joan always had a spunky, wild, and spontaneous spirit. She was the kind of person you wanted to be friends with. She kept nearly century-old friendships alive with phone calls and handwritten letters. She was interested in learning about and sharing her family history, bargain shopping, and all things Christmas. She worked for years as a lunch lady for New Prairie school systems and made cakes for several people's events in the community. For her grandkids, her house always had endless adventurous activities inside and out.

Joan had a joy about her that showed itself in frequent laughter. Her hugs were long and filled with love. While she was so warm-hearted, she was also tough, audacious and said what she meant.

Joan and her lively spirit will be severely missed, but the bright memories of her will live forever. The talks at her kitchen table, the looking through pictures that meant so much to her, and the colorful stories of all the wild fun she had in her youthful years.

A private burial at St. John Kanty Cemetery will take place.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel in La Porte, Indiana.
