Fred Arnold Kless

Fred Arnold Kless, better known as Freddie, was born August 28, 1948 in La Porte, Indiana, the son of the late Fred and Emily (French) Kless. He passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday August 14, 2023 in Michigan City, IN.

 

A native of La Porte, Freddie lived in Maryland for many years before returning to the area in 1990. He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War before joining U.S. Steel as a truck driver. Freddie loved the Washington Redskins, Alabama college football (Roll Tide) and had a passion for hunting. He was also a member of the New Buffalo Rod and Gun Club. Freddie was quite the character and was loved by many.

 

He is survived by his two daughters, Karin Kless of Malone, NY and Karla Kless of California, MD; three grandchildren, Liza (Josh) Wathen of Chaptico, MD, Kayla (Hunter) Marquis of Spring Hill, FL,  Andrew Mirfield of Lexington Park, MD; three great-grandchildren, Payton and Paisley Wathen of Chaptico, MD, River Marquis of Spring Hill, FL;  two brothers, Ronnie and Bobby Allen of Hermann, MO; two sisters, Nancy Jacobs of  La Porte, IN and Donna Sturino, of North White Plains, NY; Aunt Louise Hutchins of Michigan and several nieces and nephews.

 

Along with his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his sisters, Susan Dilloway and Evelyn Kessler.

 

The family wishes to thank everyone who helped in his time of need - it truly takes a village. A special thank you to Dunes Hospice for the wonderful care they provided.

 

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN. Cremation will take place and Fred will be buried with his parents at Pine Lake Cemetery.
