Michelle Lorraine Johnson

Michelle Lorraine Johnson, a beloved mother, daughter, and grandmother, passed away peacefully at the age of 50 on Saturday, August 5th, 2023, at Northwest Health - La Porte. Born on September 3rd, 1972, in La Porte, Indiana, Michelle was a lifelong resident and a cherished member of the community.

She was the loving daughter of Lorraine (Carlson) Alexander. Michelle's life was one of love, joy, and enduring relationships. She was united in marriage with the love of her life, her high school sweetheart, Calvin, on March 23rd, 1991. Their bond was a testament to their deep affection and unwavering commitment to each other. Calvin was Michelle's center, her rock, and her most cherished friend. Their love story was admired by all who knew them, and their enduring partnership was a testament to their devotion. Calvin sadly preceded her in death in 2021.  Michelle's life was enriched by her four children, Nick, Alexis, Shiana, and Austin Johnson, and further blessed by her two grandchildren, Irina Johnson and Vela Jacko. She is also survived by her mother, Lorraine Alexander; her stepfather, Mike Reder; aunt, Tammy Carlson; and uncles, Rex (Gladys) and Derrick Carlson. Michelle's extended family of nieces and nephews will remember her fondly.

Michelle was also preceded in death by her brother, Raymond Alexander; grandmother, Melba Carlson; father-in-law, Ray Dean Johnson; and mother-in-law, Irene Gloria (Koepke) Johnson. However, she always carried their memories close to her heart and honored them in her daily life.

Following her 1991 graduation from La Porte High School, Michelle found her calling in helping others, becoming a Home Health Care Assistant. Her loving, kind, and passionate nature shone through in her work, bringing comfort and care to those she served. Michelle had a zest for life, enjoying karaoke and dancing, and her infectious spirit brought joy to those around her.

Michelle's happiest moments were the simple ones, often spent in the company of Calvin. She cherished the times they would sit by the lake, hand in hand, basking in the serenity of nature. It was in these moments that she found peace, solace, and a resounding sense of love that she carried with her throughout her life.  Above all, Michelle will be remembered for the love she had for her family and friends. Her granddaughters were the apple of her eye, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Her home was always filled with laughter, warmth, and an open door for anyone in need.

Cremation has taken place as per her wishes. The family thanks the community for their support during this difficult time and invites you to share your memories and condolences online at www.cutlercares.com.  In honor of Michelle's life and the love she shared with those around her, memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of Shiana Johnson, 2900 Monroe Street, La Porte, IN 46350. It is a fitting tribute to a woman who devoted her life to caring for others, and a testament to the enduring impact of her life.

Michelle Lorraine Johnson was a beacon of love and kindness in the lives of many. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit and the memories she created will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.  She will always love her NASA.
