Frank E. Howe

Frank E. Howe, 96, of Dayton, Ohio, formerly of La Porte, Indiana passed away Saturday, August 5th, 2023 peacefully at Bethany Lutheran Village with family by his side. He was born on September 12th, 1926, in Spokane, Washington to Oscar Thunborg and Alice (Ottevaere). When his mother remarried, he was adopted by Thomas F. Howe.

 

Frank served in the U.S. Navy from August 10th, 1944 to July 12th, 1950, and attained the rank of Seaman V6 during WWII. He retired from Tyler Division of American Standard after 42 years of service as General Manager of Parts Operations. He was a member of Holy Family Parish, St. Peter Church.

 

On June 24th, 1950, in Toledo, Ohio, Frank married Ruth M. Howe. They enjoyed 46 happy years raising their children and traveling, including spending winters in Phoenix, Arizona. Ruth preceded him in death on August 13th, 1996. On May 23rd, 1998, in Tempe, Arizona, Frank married Beatrice Slocum who preceded him in death on June 14, 2007.

 

Also preceding him in death are daughter, Carol Howe on April 19th, 2022, and grandsons, Alec Wright on January 2nd, 2021 and Daniel Wright on September 30, 2002.

 

Frank is survived by his children, Barb (Jane Kerstner) Howe of Winthrop Harbor, Illinois, Jim (Mary) Howe of LaPorte, Indiana, and Sue (Randy) Wright of Springboro, Ohio; daughter-in-law, Susan Johansen of New Richmond, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Jim (Theresa) Howe, Missy (Justin) Elek, Andrew, Kristin and Joshua Wright; and great-grandchildren, Luke and Elise Elek, Leyna and Lydia Howe.

 

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial to begin at 11:30 a.m. Friday, August 11th, 2023, at Holy Family Parish, St. Peter Church, 1101 Michigan Avenue, LaPorte, Indiana. Burial will follow at Pine Lake Cemetery.

 

Arrangements have been entrusted to Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel in La Porte.
