Doris Jean (Kegebein) Hall

Doris Jean (Kegebein) Hall, 91, of Valparaiso, Indiana, joined her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, July 19th, 2023. She was a current resident of Holy Cross Village in Notre Dame, Indiana.

Doris was born August 2nd, 1931, in La Porte, Indiana, to George and Amelia (Gloor) Kegebein. She was the baby of the family, capping off the Kegebein count to three girls and four boys.

Doris married James E. Hall and later welcomed two children with him. James preceded her in death.

Doris is survived by her two children, Judge Kim (Susan) Hall of Knox, Indiana, and Jayne (Terry) Larson of Valparaiso, Indiana; five grandchildren, Sarah (Dr. Paul) Cooper, Matthew (Holly) Hall, Nicholas (Susannah) Larson, Kate (Jeffrey) Jensen, and Anna Larson; and eight great-grandchildren, Amelia, Ben, Ray, Cole, William, Lucas, Jack and Audrey.

Dutch, as many called her after she was given the nickname by her father at age five, was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Valparaiso, Indiana. She was an avid sports fan of the Chicago Cubs and rarely missed an opportunity to cheer them on, either from afar or in person. She enjoyed spending long hours tending to her gardens and yard and was well-known for their beauty. Doris’s greatest joy in life, however, was brought to her through her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a beloved “Granny” to all.

A private, graveside service will be held at Tracy Cemetery in Hamlet, Indiana. A Pastor from Doris’s home church, Immanuel Lutheran, will officiate.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, in La Porte, Indiana.
