Arlene Fay (Miller) Tarr

Arlene Fay (Miller) Tarr, 89, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away peacefully Sunday, July 2nd, 2023 at White Oaks Health Campus in Monticello, IN.

 

She was born October 29th, 1933 in Pulaski County, Indiana, the daughter of Clarence Miller and Amy (Krout) Miller.

 

On March 14th, 1953 in Westville, IN, Arlene married Donald K Tarr. Together they had four children, Dennis Tarr, Joy Turner (Tarr), Gregg Tarr Sr. and Valerie Thompson (Tarr), all of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her husband. 

 

A lifelong resident of the area, Arlene graduated from La Porte High School in 1952. Following high school, she worked as a gauge maker for Dwyer Instruments in Michigan City, IN, where she retired after 30 years of service.  Arlene enjoyed shopping. She loved all the holidays, cooking large meals for the festive family gatherings. Christmas was a favorite as she decorated each room in the house with a special theme. Arlene loved her life and took great pleasure in spending time with her 18 grandchildren and abundance of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

 

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends Friday, July 7th from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM., at which time a memorial life celebration service will be held. Interment of cremated remains will follow at the Pine Lake Cemetery.
