Carolyn J. McCooey

Carolyn J. McCooey, 76, Michigan City, Indiana, was called home on Saturday, June 3rd, 2023 at 3:47 p.m. while at Franciscan Health - Michigan City.

 

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 8th, 2023 at Trinity Episcopal Church, 600 Franklin Street, Michigan City with Father Robert Rhodes and Deacon Kathy Townley officiating. The Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Michigan City, Indiana is handling arrangements.

 

Carolyn was born September 15th, 1946, in Rochester, New York, to the late Glenn V. and June (Williams) Masten. Her sister, Constance Trzepacz preceded her in death 10 years ago.

 

On June 25th, 1988, at Trinity Episcopal Church, in Michigan City, Indiana, she married William McCooey, who survives. Carolyn was the love of his life.

 

Surviving are her loving sister, Kathryn (Mark) Bindig of East Aurora, New York. Carolyn was a loving mother to her two surviving children raising them in Hamburg, New York; one beloved son, Thomas (Mary) Noeller of Avon Lake, Ohio (Carolyn's grandchildren, Jacob, Stephanie, and Zachary Noeller) and one beloved daughter, Beth (Joseph) Lawson of Orchard Park, New York (Carolyn's grandchildren, Jamie Lawson, Kearstie (Joseph) Bienias, and Jillian Lawson; and great grandson, Cole Lawson); special friends, Jana Thomas, Teri Sharp, Laurie O'Hara, and Betty Phillips; and the rest of her friends from the Steel Magnolias.

 

Carolyn graduated from Orchard Park High School in 1964 and attended Keuka College. She was a Medical Transcriptionist at the former Memorial Hospital in Michigan City, and the former La Porte Hospital. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church and Women of  Trinity. Carolyn was also a thirty-one year member of AA, touching many lives in the program.

 

She loved living in Indiana, especially near the water here and at Skaneateles Lake at her sister's cottage. Carolyn loved spending time with her family and was there for every special occasion. She had such a love of her cat, Buddy. Carolyn's love was deep and true. Carolyn had a special place in her heart for her church and family. She will be sorely missed by all who have known her.
