William H. Johnson, Jr.

William H. Johnson, Jr., 87, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Sunday, June 11th, 2023 at 11:30 pm in Michigan City.

 

Graveside services will be held at a later date at Chesterton Cemetery, Chesterton, IN.  The Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Michigan City, IN is handling arrangements.

 

He was born May 29th, 1936 in Red Oak, MD to the late William H. and Nellie V. (Arnold) Johnson. On October 13th, 1978 in La Porte, IN he married Maxine D. Barlow who preceded him in death on May 30th, 2023.

 

Surviving are two sons, Rodney Bohle and James (Beth) Bohle of La Porte, IN; twelve grandchildren, Edward (Elvi) Bohle, III, Alexis (Dave) Wallace, Dena (Keith) True, Erik Bohle, Dawn Corbett, Stacy Bohle, Mark (Lisa) Bohle, Amy (Matt) Hartsburg, Timothy (Season) Bohle, Katie Bohle, Bradley (Peyton) Bohle and Tyler (Kaitlin Moore) Bohle; twenty-three great-grandchildren, Dylan (Emily) Bohle, Emilee Bohle, Max Bohle, Jackson Bohle, Zachary True, Issac True, Emma True, Elliot True, Alexander Bohle, Elijah Bohle, Brandon Corbett, Jacob Corbett, Cheyenne Corbett, Kelton (Sarah) Bohle, Austin Bohle, Alyssa Bohle, Mark Bohle, Jr., Ryan Bohle, Antonio Bohle, Matthew Hartsburg, Aryanna Hartsburg, Tatum Bohle and Adelynn Lisenko; one great-great-grandchild , Kyion Bohle; and one sister, Helen of Belington, WV.

 

He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Rosie, Isabell and Carolyn; and his brother, Carroll Johnson.

 

William retired in 1986 as a supervisor for Bethlehem Steel and then worked as a transporter for various RV companies. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran and a member of the Michigan City Men's Golf League. He also enjoyed watching Golf, ESPN sports and spending time with his family.
