Joanne Galloway, 72, of LaPorte, Indiana, passed away peacefully Friday, June 9th, 2023 at Avalon Springs Health Campus in Valparaiso, IN.

 

She was born in La Porte, Indiana, the daughter of Marion L. Galloway Sr. and Betty E. (Leonard) Galloway.

 

A lifelong resident of the area, Joanne graduated from La Porte High School in 1969. Following graduation, she worked for Whirlpool in various jobs, retiring as the warehouse manager in 2015.  She was an active member of the La Porte Missionary Church and in her earlier years spent time volunteering at La Porte Hospital. Lovingly known as "Aunt Jo" by family and friends alike, she loved cruising in her bright yellow 1976 Corvette, which she bought brand new.  She had a passion for collecting. Joanne spent years collecting music boxes, lighthouses, and even dolls.  She absolutely loved Disney World and adored her collection of Disney memorabilia. 

 

Joanne will be missed by her surviving relatives, including her brother, John (Pat) Galloway of Hebron, IN; three nephews, Todd Galloway of Medora, IN, Scott (Josie) Galloway of Lafayette, IN and Kyle (Mallory) Galloway of Crown Point, IN; niece, Stephanie (Aaron) Miller of Hebron, IN; three great-nieces and two-great nephews. 

 

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Marion L Galloway Jr. (Judy) of Lafayette, IN.

 

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, Indiana.  A graveside service and interment will take place Friday, June 16th, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Pine Lake Cemetery, with Pastor Carl Galloway, La Porte Missionary Church, officiating.
