James "Dick" Blevins

James "Dick" Blevins, 81, passed away on Wednesday, June 7th, 2023 at Miller's Merry Manor, New Carlisle.

 

Dick was born on August 17th, 1941 in Holliday, KY, to Andrew and Cliffy M. (Holiday) Blevins.

 

Surviving Dick are his daughters, Elizabeth Hasko of La Porte and Jennifer (Michael) Quimby of Rochester; 5 grandchildren, Dustin Hasko, David Hasko, Christopher (Lori) Quimby, Samantha (Robert) Quimby-Utter, and Daniel Blevins; 6 great-grandchildren; brother, Gary Blevins of Marion, OH; as well as many nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; ex-wife and soul mate, Joan Helterbrand Blevins Calahan; son, Andrew S. Blevins II; daughter-in-law, Dawn Blevins; son-in-law, David Hasko Jr., grandson, Joshua Hasko; 1 brother; and 3 sisters.

 

Dick worked as a die setter for 38 years at Howmet.  He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson, and spending time with family and friends.  Dick loved watching westerns, especially those starring John Wayne, and classic country music.  He was a member of the La Porte Moose Lodge and ABATE Region 2.

 

Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte.  A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will take place at 5 p.m. (CST) on Saturday, June 17th, 2023 at the Moose Lodge #492, 925 Boyd Blvd., La Porte.  In honor of Dick, the family requests that you wear Harley Davidson attire.
