Miriam T. McGill

“And Jesus calling unto him a little child, set him in the midst of them, And said: Amen I say to you, unless you be converted, and become as little children, you shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, he is the greater in the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 18:2-4.

Miriam T. McGill, is survived by her brother Paul McGill, who is married to Laurie, of Land O’ Lakes, Florida. Paul and Laurie have 5 children - Joseph, Marguerite, Michael, Grace, and Paul, all of Land O’ Lakes, Florida. Miriam is preceded by her father, Lieutenant Commander Paul McGill of the United States Coast Guard, her mother Marguerite, and her sister Marla.

Miriam lived most of her adult life in South Bend, Indiana (but you could catch a Louisiana drawl if you listened closely). She was an avid traveler. She was a brilliant chess and card game player, and she had an incredible range of interests, skills, and friends. But most importantly to Miriam, she was a devout Catholic. She loved the Faith very much. As a parishioner at St. Stanislaus, Bishop and Martyr, she attended Mass daily until unable, and she remains a beloved member of the Sodality of the Immaculate Conception and St. Anne.

She loved all of her family very much, including her god-children and their families. She modeled God’s invitation to child-like humility and the good, innocent, beautiful life that it offers. Words cannot express how much she will be missed. She placed her hope in the resurrection of the dead, and it is our hope that she is enjoying her eternal reward.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. EST, Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at St. Stanislaus, Bishop and Martyr, Catholic Church, 415 N. Brookfield Street, South Bend, Indiana 46628. Burial will follow at Douglas Cemetery, Douglas, Michigan.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, La Porte, Indiana.

If you wish to honor her memory, please make arrangements for a Catholic priest to offer the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass for the Holy Souls in Purgatory.
