Verona J. Hendrickson

Verona J. Hendrickson, 85, Michigan City, Indiana, formerly of Menlo Park, California, passed away Friday, May 12th, 2023 at 11:37 p.m. in her home.

 

A private family service will be held. Arrangements are being handled by the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington Street, Michigan City, Indiana.

 

She was born July 3rd, 1937, in Spencer, Iowa, to the late Duffy and Merva (Paulson) Hendrickson. 

 

Surviving are her two sons, Donald Farley of Michigan City, Indiana and Kelvin (Laura) Farley of Tacoma, Washington; and granddaughter, Jennifer (Ronnie) Combs of Trail Creek, Indiana. Preceding her in death were her parents; two older brothers, Algene and Glenn Hendrickson; one younger brother, Dean Hendrickson; and long-time companion, Ben Gilbert. 

 

Verona was deaf and active in the deaf community all of her life. She attended school at The Iowa School for the Deaf. While attending school, her proudest moment was meeting Helen Keller, an idol and influencer to her and her classmates. Verona retired in 1996 as a quality control inspector for Lockheed Martin in Sunnyvale, California.
