Michele Venita Anderson

Michele Venita Anderson, 74, affectionately known as “Skip” or “MawMaw”, of Boynton Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully Friday May 5th, 2023 at VNA Hospice Center in Valparaiso, IN.

She was born April 15th, 1949 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Clifford Parker and Jessie Mae (Evans) Parker. At the age of 14, Michele moved from Chicago to Kingsford Heights, IN, where she graduated from La Porte High School in 1967. Following graduation, Michele worked for 18 years for Boise Cascade as a laborer. In 1991, she then moved on to work at Silgan Containers and worked as a fork lift driver, palletizer operator and lastly, a Chemical Process Operator (CPO).

After retiring in 2012, she moved from South Bend to Florida where she enjoyed the sunshine in her convertible, read books on the beaches, and attended live band performances. In her free time, Michele loved throwing parties and at one point, she even got her bartending license. She enjoyed crocheting blankets for immediate family and loved ones, watching Greyhound and Harness racing, dancing and participating in Stepping contests in Chicago. She loved listening to blues music, with BB King and Bobby Blue Bland being two of her favorites. Michele was described as a "fancy lady," taking great pride in her earring and high heel collection, owning hundreds of pairs of each. Everywhere she went you were sure to see her in a pair of hoops and heels, even her work boots were heels.

Michele was a member of the Community Christian Center Church in Michigan City since 2002. Most of all, Michele loved and cherished time with her family. She was a devoted mother, beautiful daughter, loving sister, wonderful aunt, great cousin, loyal friend and the most proud, best loved “MawMaw” her 6 grandchildren could ever have.

She is survived by her Mamma Laverne Parker of Lexington, MS; two daughters, Nichele (Terry) O'Neal of Michigan City, IN, Carmen Anderson of Chicago, IL; sister, Edris (Van) Hartley of Chicago, IL; six grandchildren, James O'Neal, Michele Hollins, Jenice (Jaelin) Morgan, Janelle O'Neal, Madison Branch, Maze Smoot; niece, Edris Hayes; and nephew, Michael Parker.
