James L. Rimbaugh

James Rimbaugh, 76, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away peacefully in his home on the morning of Saturday April 29th, 2023.

 

He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Rimbaugh and his mother, Evelyn (Mulder) Rimbaugh, his brother, Scott Rimbaugh and his beloved Dachshund, Charlie Brown.

 

James is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Bunnie Rimbaugh; 2 sons, J.C. Rimbaugh of Plymouth, Chris (Cheri) Rimbaugh of New Carlisle; daughter, Keri Rimbaugh of South Bend; sister Pam (Jerry) Good of Hamlet; sister-in-law, Gina Rimbaugh of North Liberty.

 

Born January 15th, 1947 in Blue Island, Illinois, Jim graduated from La Porte High School before serving in the United States Navy. He was a believer in Jesus Christ with a genuine love of our country.  Jim's career spanned 50 years, starting in car sales then as an insurance salesman for Allstate. He retired from Blake Insurance in January of 2022. Jim put his heart and soul into taking care of his customers. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, woodworking, bird watching, DIY television shows and a good cigar. He will be greatly missed by many, until we meet again.

 

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN. A Gathering of Family and Friends (visitation) will take place at the funeral home on Thursday, May 4th, 2023 from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. followed by military honors at 2:00. A private interment of cremated remains in Patton Cemetery will take place at a later date.

 

Memorial contributions may be made in Jim's name to the La Porte Small Animal Shelter, 2855 IN 2, La Porte, IN  46350.
