Mary Jane George

Mary Jane George, 95, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Sunday, April 30th, 2023 at 2:25 p.m. in Brookdale - Valparaiso, Indiana.

 

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Thursday, May 4th, 2023 at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN with Pastor Edward Majean officiating. Burial will follow in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens, Michigan City, Indiana. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 3rd, 2023 and from 11:00 a.m. until time service Thursday at the funeral chapel.    

 

She was born February 12th, 1928, in Marked Tree, Arkansas, to the late Albert Lee and Rosa Marie (Carter) Lane. On November 2nd, 1946, in Truman, Arkansas, she married Herbert T. George, who preceded her in death March 2nd, 2017.

 

Also preceded her in death were her parents; and three brothers, Bud Lane, Bill Lane, and Albert Lane Jr.

 

Surviving are her one daughter, Patricia (Gerald) Yocom of La Porte, Indiana; one son, Thomas (Debra) George of Half Moon, Arkansas; six grandchildren, Jennifer Bernard-Bildhauser, Christopher (Summer) Bernard, Matthew (Rebecca) George, Cody (Lindsey) George, McKinsey (Jason) Jablonski, and Megan (Joe) Wolfe; eighteen great-grandchildren, Jordyn, Madison, Trenton, Amira, Violet, Tucker, Chance, Paige, Austyn, Hudson, Baylee, Ella, Claire, Lydia, Annelise, Everett, Mike, and Matt; and expected one great grandchild due in June 2023.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Mary Diann Jones; and three brothers, Bud Lane, Bill Lane, Albert Lane Jr.

 

Mary Jane admired gardening and enjoyed the flowers she had planted. She will be greatly missed by her family.
