Michael Stacy

Michael Ray Stacy, 60, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away peacefully Monday May 1st, 2023 at NW Health-La Porte.

 

He was born April 20th, 1963 in La Porte, Indiana, the son of J.B. Stacy and Shirley (Vires) Stacy.

 

A lifelong resident of the area, Michael graduated from Westville High School in 1982. On April 23rd, 1988, in Wanatah, IN, he married Sherry (Younggreen) Stacy, who survives. Together they enjoyed spending time at the casinos, playing slot machines. In his free time, Michael enjoyed hunting and planting and harvesting vegetables in his very large garden. He also loved pitching horseshoes with his friends, participating in both the La Porte and Michigan City Horse Shoe Clubs. His family was his pride and joy and he will be missed by all.

 

Along with his wife, Michael is survived by his two daughters, Patsy Stacy of La Porte, IN, Sara (Matthew) Cunningham of La Porte, IN; three grandchildren, Jayme Lofton, Levi Cunningham, and Gunner Cunningham; aunt, Carol Haskins of North Judson, IN; adopted granddaughter, Jena Jacobs; niece, Charlene (Chris) Allen of Whick, KY; nephew, Travis (Kelli) Clemons of Jackson, KY as well as a large extended family. 

 

Michael was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Sherry Clemons; paternal grandparents, Earl and Patsy Stacy, maternal grandparents, Tilden and Nanabell Viers and several aunts and uncles.

 

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN where the family will receive friends Thursday, May 4th, 2023 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Friday May 5th, 2023 from 10:00 until 11:00 service time at the funeral home. Deacon Farley Mullins, Michael's uncle, will officiate. Interment will follow at the Kingsbury Cemetery.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of Haverstock Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses.
