Patricia J. Herod

Patricia J Herod, 89, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away Friday, April 28th, 2023 at Settlers Place in La Porte, IN, surrounded by her family.

 

She was born January 28th, 1934 in La Porte, Indiana, the daughter of George Helt and Myra (Barnes) Helt.

 

A graduate of La Porte High School, Patricia worked in receiving for Kabelin's, retiring in 2000.  On November 24th, 1951, in La Porte, she married Robert Herod who preceded her in death March 7th, 2019. Together, they enjoyed camping and traveling around the United States in their RV. Patricia was an avid gardener, creating a rock garden with beautiful flowers. Quilting and sewing were her passion and she had a fully stocked room at her home just waiting for someone to come in and step on a pin or needle.  Her many quilts were thoroughly enjoyed by her friends and family, who she dearly loved.

 

Patricia is survived by her son, Scott (Celia) Herod of South Bend, IN; daughter, Sindee (Tony) Ramaekers of Rolling Prairie, IN; five grandchildren, Jennifer (Stephen) Sullivan of Cypress, TX, Lesley Herod of Chesterton, IN, Kristen (Chad) Moore of La Porte, IN, Lynsey Orzulak of St. Cloud, MN, Angie (Tim) Weber of New Carlisle, IN; ten great-grandchildren, Maxwell Sullivan, Samuel Sullivan, Taylor Mitchell, Jessica Mitchell, Savanah Moore, Jackson Moore, Tyler Weber, Morgan Weber, Kyle Weber, Stella Glover; four great-great-grandchildren, Malaya Butler, Kaden Weber, Kolton Weber and Olivia Weber.

 

Along with her husband, Patricia was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Gail Schroder; son, Kent Herod; great-grandson, Cody Mitchell; sister, Margarite (Howard) Rupert; brothers, George (Bea) Helt, John Helt, Howard Helt, Kenny (Kate) Helt.

 

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Avenue, La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 2nd, 2023 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 5:00 p.m. with Pastor Eric L. Wooding, officiating.  Cremation will take place and Patricia will be buried with her husband in Patton Cemetery at a later date.
