Valeria "Val" Kniola

Valeria "Val" Kniola, 89, Trail Creek, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, April 18th, 2023 at 8:55 pm in her home.

 

Mass of Christian burial will be conducted Saturday, April 29th, 2023 at 10:00 AM at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 1506 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana with Rev. Walter Ciesla officiating.  Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Michigan City, Indiana.  Visitation hours will be 4:00 PM till 8:00 PM Friday and Saturday from 8:30 AM till 9:30 AM  at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana. The Rosary will be recited Friday evening at 6:00 PM in the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel. 

 

She was born August 2th, 1933 in Michigan City, Indiana to the late Stanley Jasniewski and Lillian (Roskie) Jasniewski-Marciniak. On July 16th, 1952 in Michigan City, Indiana she married Max A. Kniola who preceded December 13th, 2013.

 

Surviving are daughter, Debbie (Tom) Irk of Michigan City, Indiana; two sons, Mark (Cindy) Kniola of Port Charlotte, Florida, Jeff (Pat) Kniola of Fishers, Indiana; seven grandchildren, Michael (Brier) Irk, Jennifer Irk, Amber (Matt) Wanke, Adam Kniola, Matt (Joy) Kniola, Katy (Ashton) Faramelli, and Carson Kniola; four great-grandchildren, Brilee Irk, Connor Wanke, Rowan Kniola, and Remi Kniola; sister, Vicky Grott of South Carolina; three brothers, Phillip Marciniak of Greensburg, Indiana, David Marciniak of Michigan City, Indiana, Michael (Sharon) Marciniak, Jr. of Michigan City, Indiana.

 

She was also preceded in death by son, David Kniola; three brothers, Tom Marciniak, Frank Jasniewski, Robert Marciniak' step-father, Michael Marciniak, Sr.; and sister-in-laws, Nancy Marciniak & Mary Lou Marciniak.

 

She was "Mama Val" to many children that she cared for at Mama Val's Day Care. 

 

She was a very active member of with St. Stanislaus Catholic Church and St. Stanislaus School.   If a worker was needed for a committee, Val was available.  She started the military and compassion committee of St. Stanislaus Church and assisted with the Boy Scouts, active with the Bible study group at St. Stanislaus Church along with being an Eucharistic minister.  She was part of the girls card club and the dice & dice club for over 60 years.
