Shirley Johnson Kaber, 95, passed away at Manitowoc Health and Rehabilitation Center on Saturday, April 15th, 2023 in Manitowoc, Wisconsin.  Shirley had moved, to Manitowoc from La Porte in September of the previous year, to be closer to her daughter and son-in-law.

 

Shirley was born August 18th, 1927 in La Porte to the late Evans H. and Ruth (Thorson) Johnson.

 

On August 8th, 1948, Shirley married Roy V. Kaber, who preceded her in death on February 13th, 2003.

 

Shirley is survived by a daughter, Claudia (Wayne) Eslinger of Manitowoc, Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy; parents; sister, Bernice Beall; and sister-in-law, Martha.

 

Shirley retired from the Bethany Lutheran Church office, where she was a lifetime member and served as Secretary and Assistant Treasurer for many years.  She was an active member of the Rebecca Circle, Quilting Ladies and Service Committee.

 

She volunteered in the Hospital Gift Shop and enjoyed Bridge, golf, and Friday night dinners with her close friends.

 

Cremation has taken place in Wisconsin.

 

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 4th, 2023 at Bethany Lutheran Church with Pastor Dennis Meyer officiating.  Friends may call at the church from 10 a.m. until time of service on Thursday .
