Lewis John Eggert, Jr.

Lewis John Eggert, Jr. 74 of North Liberty, Indiana passed away Monday, April 3rd, 2023. He was born on February 22nd, 1949, in Mill Creek, Indiana to the late Lewis John Eggert, Sr. and Laura M. (Hacker). 

 

Lewis was a truck driver. He served his country during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Army. He was a 10 year member of the 4-H and he showed beef. When his daughter became of age to be in 4-H, they started in rabbits. Then they moved over to Draft Horses. That is where his true passion came out. Even after Roxanne and Christopher aged out he continued as an owner where he allowed other kids to show his horses. He remained an owner and teacher for the next generations.

 

He is survived by a daughter, Roxanne (Sean) Kelly of Lakeland, Florida; a son, Christopher (Adrienne) Eggert of Lakeland, Florida; a step-daughter, Amy McCloud of Fish Lake, Indiana; grandchildren, Dajah, Abigail, and Grace Kelly, Kirsten, Leanna, and Parker Vogt, Emily Daniels, and Dalton Qualls; and a sister-in-law, Mary Eggert of La Porte. He was preceded by his siblings, Betty Routt, Wilber Eggert, Katherine Small, Louise Mrozinski, and Norman Eggert. 

 

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday, April 10th, 2023, at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, 1117 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana. A funeral service will begin at 11a.m. on Monday following the visitation. Burial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery with Military Honors.
